Cash back on your spending
Just in time for Christmas, the American Express Platinum credit card is now offering 5% cash back on all spending for the first 3 months.
This whopping 5% cash back is limited to a claim of £200 cash back during the introductory 3 month period. However, that still means you can earn 5% on spending up to £4,000 - which is more than enough to cover even the more extravagent Christmas lists.
After the introductory period the American Express Platinum credit card still remains one of the highest paying cash back credit cards available - offering up to 1.5% cash back on all spending - and there are no limits to the amount of cash back you can earn once the introductory bonus period has finished.
The standard (post-introductory) cash back scheme here is a tiered one, which means high spenders will be able to earn more cash back. The spending tiers are marked at £3,500 and £10,000 - allowing you to earn 0.5%, and then 1% once you've reached the first spending limit - and then 1.5% on all spending over £10,001.
There are however, no tiers to reach during the introductory period - so even your very first purchase will earn you 5%.
Platinum cardholder benefits
Alongside the cash back offering, the American Express Platinum credit card boasts a superior range of cardholder extras that really make holding an American Express card worthwhile, including such luxuries as purchase protection insurance and refund protection insurance.
You will be required to have a household income (that's your income plus your partner's income) of £20,000 or more to qualify.

More about American Express Platinum credit card...
The American Express Platinum credit card offers up a number of very good reasons to keep this credit card at front position in your wallet.
Cash Back
The American Express Platinum credit card is one of the few credit cards offering cash back on all your purchases, and with a good percentage amount of your spend, this card offers a nice cash back earning potential.
During the first 3 months of your account being opened, you'll be earning 5% cash back on all your purchases (on spending up to £4,000), after 3 months you'll still be earning a good figure of up to 1.5% cash back - with no earning limits.
Once the introductory 3-month period ends, the actual amount of cash back you will earn on your purchases is dependent upon your spending level.
Your credit card purchase spending will be added up each year, and the more you spend the higher the rate of cash back you'll earn on your purchases.
On cumulative spending each year up to £3,500 you will earn 0.5% cash back on these purchases, on cumulative amounts of spending between £3,501 and £10,000 you will earn 1% cash back, and on cumulative amounts of more than £10,001 you'll earn 1.5% cash back.
One note to bear in mind is the cumulative total of your spending in the first year - to reach the tiered payout levels - will begin once the introductory 3-month period ends.
The cash back you earn on the American Express platinum credit card will be paid to you on an annual basis as long as your account is open and in good standing.
