Egg credit card review

THE Egg credit card has been one of our top choices for a while now. Now their excellent reputation and strong 0% offers have been joined by some fantastic shopping rewards - recently revamped to include cashback from over 1,500 online retailers.

Leading balance transfer offer

The Egg credit card offers a market leading balance transfer deal and remains at the head of the pack for 0% promotions.

Just updated, you can now get 0% on balance transfers until 1st November 2011 - up to 14 months of no interest charges, a month longer than the previous offer.

Just remember you will have to move your balance to the Egg credit card by 1st December 2010 to qualify - and balance transfers carry a 3% fee.

0% balance transfer offers are the way to go if you have outstanding balances on other credit cards and can see you debt-free much quicker.

Egg wins extra points for offering 0% on purchases until 1st December 2010 (apprx. 3 months) - allowing you to splash out and repay your purchase over the next few months.

Online Account Management This service is offered. You can log in to a web site and manage your Egg credit card account online. There are no 'on-the-street' banks, banking can only be done online, via post or post office and over the telephone.
Fraud Guarantee This service is offered. You won't be held liable for fraudulent transactions you report as long as Egg confirms that they are unauthorised and you have not acted fraudulently or without care.
Fraud Monitoring This service is offered. Egg will monitor your account for any suspicious activity and will provide you with a dedicated case manager if any fraudulent use occurs.
Identity Protection This service is not offered. Egg will provide an ID theft protection information pack providing details of how to avoid ID theft and advice if it happens.
Verified by Visa This service is offered. An extra layer of security when shopping online. Register and set up a password-protected identity-check when you shop online with participating online retailers.
Purchase Protection Insurance This service is offered. Items bought with the Egg credit card costing over £75 will be covered anywhere in the world against theft or damage (excluding wear and tear) for 90 days from the date of purchase.

Items bought online with the Egg credit card (in a single transaction) costing over £50 will be covered against theft or damage.

The Egg credit card breaks the mold with it's leading 0% promotion on balance transfers.

When you take out an Egg credit card you'll be able to transfer an existing credit card balance to your new Egg card and benefit from 0% interest rates on this balance until 1 November 2011 - that's up to 14 whole months!

Balance transfers do carry a handling fee, but it's only 3% of the balance you are transferring, much less than the money you will save in interest charges.

Just remember to move your balance over to the Egg credit card by 1st December 2010 to qualify.
