You'll need to make a one-off payment of £8.95 to get your hands on an Extreme Cred Prepaid card. But after that, in terms of spending in the UK there'll be no costly transaction fees to worry about. You can top up with a minimum of £10 and a maximum of £500. The total limit allowable on an Extreme Cred Prepaid card is £3,500 and the cheapest way to load up your card is at the Post Office - where a single load will be charged at 70p.
Money that you credit to your Extreme Cred Prepaid card will register within 24 hours at the Post Office. Everywhere else - online or at PayPoints it will only take a couple of hours to register - but there are fees associated with these methods of top-up. For example, at a PayPoint location, the fee that you will be charged depends on how much you top-up. The charge ranges from 85p for crediting your card with up to £20 and up to a 3% charge of top-ups between £200.01 and £500. Online, it's a fee of 3% by direct debit or credit card.
Your card balance can be managed easily online for free - so you can always find out how much cash is on the card before heading out for a day's shopping. Plus, if it's your son or daughter's card you can make sure they're not heading off into the great unknown without any emergency means for lunch/mascara payments.
The Extreme Cred Prepaid card is issued by Newcastle Building Society with Maestro as the payment company. Therefore, anywhere you see the Maestro sign, the Extreme Cred Prepaid card will be accepted. If you plan on using your card abroad, as is standard with card payments overseas, you will be charged a 2% fee.

Replacement cards can be re-issued at a cost of £3.99 and the card company will help in instances of stolen cards.
