Charity Credit Card Questions
Which charities offer a credit card?
Charity credit cards are offered by charities working in partnership with a particular credit card company.
Charity credit card affiliations work by offering the charity free advertising and a percentage of all spending made on the card as a donation from the credit card company.
The donations raised by charity credit cards are paid for by the credit card company - so it doesn't come out of your pocket, and if you keep your balance repaid in full each month you won't even be paying for them indirectly.
Charity credit cards are available with charities such as WWF, RSPCA, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, The National Trust, Cool Earth and Pure - the Clean Planet Trust.
Where do the funds come from?
If you have a charity credit card you may wonder where the actual money comes from to fund the donations, particularly if you repay your balance in full each month and therefore do not have to pay any interest to the credit card company.
Charity credit card donations are paid for by the credit card issuer - the money used to pay the donations comes from the profits made by the issuing bank or building society running the charity credit card.
Who pays for charity credit card donations?
Charity credit card donations are funded by the issuing bank or building society. Charity credit card donations won't cost you an extra penny - and all you need to do is spend on the card as you would any other and the named charity will receive a percentage of your total spend funded by the card issuer.
