About gold credit cards...
In order to apply for any standard credit card you need to have a decent credit rating, unless you are applying for a credit card specifically designed for those with poor credit.
With gold credit cards a decent credit rating is even more important, and those with poor credit will not be considered for these prestige cards. It is not only the benefits that are different with gold cards compared to classic cards – it is also the eligibility requirements.
In order to apply for a standard classic credit card you need to be over eighteen, be in employment, and have a decent credit rating. In order to be eligible for a gold credit card you will usually have to be aged at least twenty one, and you will need to meet minimum income requirements, which can vary from one gold card provider to another. These minimum earning requirements mean that you can then enjoy the increased borrowing power that comes with gold credit cards.
The types of benefits that you get with a gold credit card also differ from those with a classic card. Although the benefits can vary based upon the card issuer some of the benefits that you can look forward to include extended warranties, purchase protection, fraud protection, and sometimes discounts. You may also find that the interest rate charged on gold credit cards is lightly more competitive than the interest rates charged on classic cards.
You should be aware that gold credit cards can sometimes come with annual fees, and this is something to look out for. If you are being charged an annual fee but you are not really using the benefits that come with the card, a classic card may be the cheaper and more practical option to a gold credit card.
